KPD Application for Employment
Applications are being accepted for the position of part-time Public Safety Dispatcher.
The successful candidate will possess strong communication skills and the ability to multi-task,
which would include simultaneously dispatching emergency calls for police, fire and rescue.
Candidates must be willing and available to work a variety of shifts to include weekends and
holidays. A minimum of a high school diploma is required with a degree from an accredited
college or university highly desirable.

The applicant selected to fill this vacancy will be required to successfully pass an extensive
background investigation, polygraph and psychological exam. Hourly rate for this position will be
$14.53/hr with an anticipated increase to $14.97/hr post July 1, 2008.

Detective and/or Patrol Officer
KPD Application for Employment
The Kennebunk Police Department is currently seeking qualified candidates for the
position of Detective and/or Patrol Officer. The town of Kennebunk is located on the southwest coast of
Maine; 25 miles south of the city of Portland, Maine and 25 miles north of Portsmouth,
New Hampshire. Our year round population is approximately 11,500 and increases
significantly during the summer months. The department consists of 28 full-time
employees to include; 21 sworn officers, 6 communication operators, and 2 administrative
assistants, as well as 13 reserve officers.
"Starting" Salary Range: $37,433 - $44,072
(Depending upon Experience)
*Increase of 5% in the 2008 contract year*
Detective Applicants must:
- At least three years of police experience as a full-time Patrol Officer, and certification
as a graduate or waived, by the Maine Criminal Justice Academy.
- An Associate Degree in Law Enforcement or a Maine Criminal Justice Academy graduate or
waived, with two years experience as a full-time patrol officer.
- Posess a valid driver's license
- Pass a thorough background check, financial check, polygraph exam, and psychological test.
- Be in good plysical condition/health.
- Pass a physical agility assessment test based on the Maine Criminal Justice Academy's
physical agility pre-entrance test.
Patrol Applicants must:
- Have passed the Maine Criminal Justice Academy's ALERT test and the academy's 100-hour
pre-service training program, or be elgible to receive a waiver from MCJA.
- Be a minimim age of 21 years old (20 years old with at least 60 college credit hours).
- Have a minimum of 2 years of college (60 credit hours), preferably an Associate's Degree
in Criminal Justice, or a related field. Consideration may be given to those applicants
who have a high school education and at least 2 years of full-time or reserve officer
experience.
- Posess a valid driver's license
- Pass a thorough background check, financial check, polygraph exam, and psychological test.
- Be in good plysical condition/health.
- Pass a physical agility assessment test based on the Maine Criminal Justice Academy's
physical agility pre-entrance test.
- Preference may be given to those applicants who have completed the Maine Criminal
Justice Academy's Basic Law Enforcement Training Program.
