Message from Robert F. MacKenzie,
Chief of Police.........

I am pleased to introduce the Kennebunk Police Department web site and invite members of the public to learn more about the ways in which the Department serves the community. Our mission includes our commitment to working in partnership with all citizens of our community to ensure the effective delivery of exceptional police services. Whenever possible we will let people know how we intend to achieve this, how we are performing in meeting our departmental goals and objectives and what the public can do to assist in these efforts.

Police Departments have long recognized that reliable information and effective communication are two key elements to providing public safety and effective law enforcement. One of the most important ways in which we can communicate with the public is through this web site. We intend to use it to communicate with our citizens, to explain how we deliver policing services and consult widely on local policing matters. Our commitment to community policing demands an ability to establish dialogue with the community in order that we may be responsive to community needs and concerns.

Our web site offers an opportunity for the public to view our organization and the various sections within it, and describes the many ways in which we serve the community. It outlines our community policing philosophy and offers considerable crime prevention information. It also allows the public to gain access to information on crime statistics and published Department documents such as our Strategic Plan as well as current news and press releases regarding public safety and policing activities within the community.

Thinking of joining our team? If so, information is available on our web site on how to apply to become a full-time or reserve police officer or a member of our Communications Department, along with any other position vacancies we may have.

There are several useful and informative links available as well. These links offer easy access to other local agencies and area service providers. Further, information on the work being performed by some of our internal boards and committees, such as our Strategic Planning Committee, Community Policing Board and the Policy Review Committee, appear on the site.

Our web site is continually updated and work is ongoing to make sure we provide information that is relevant and of interest to readers. I hope you find viewing our web site both interesting and informative. I welcome your views and comments regarding its content and invite you to ask questions of myself or any member of the Kennebunk Police Department through email or by calling the office of the Chief of Police at 207.985.2102 ext. 1339.
